On The Felicity Of Unbridled Domesticity – “Cleaning It Up” Edition

Greetings, my fellow port swillers!

Whelp, this afternoon Port Swiller Manor finally got its new dishwasher installed.  Regular friends of the decanter will recall Ol’ Robbo writing of the death of the previous one.  I went back and looked up the post, only to discover that I wrote it almost a year ago now.

Yikes!

Ever since, we’ve been washing everything by hand.  Let’s just say the results have been……inconsistent.  One had to look extremely hard, particularly at the knives and forks, before using them.  It’ll be nice to get things back to a sparkly state.

We’re going with a stainless steel (inside and out) Kenmore, which if not top-tier seems to be a popular model.

The other news, alas, is that the A/C fellah came out to inspect ours today and it seems to have become particularly filthy both inside and out.  Getting rid of all the crud is going to be pretty expensive, but I absolutely believe the guy’s warning that the extra strain it all puts on the system will crash it eventually, and that will cost a whole lot more.

Oh, well.

And for those of you interested in Youngest’s continuing move-in saga, the latest is that the skool now says it will make a decision about cancelling the campus move-in “no later than September 9”.  Seeing as the deadline for ponying up the first semester tuition is this week, you can understand why many parents now think they’re being played.  I won’t go near the parent page on FacePlant, but Mrs. R says it’s practically a fever swamp.
