Greetings, my fellow port swillers!

Good Lord.  Are we back to this again?  The Heat Is On; NOAA, NASA Say 2014 Warmest Year On Record.

WASHINGTON (AP) — For the third time in a decade, the globe sizzled to the hottest year on record, federal scientists announced Friday.
Both the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and NASA calculated that in 2014 the world had its hottest year in 135 years of record-keeping. Earlier, the Japanese weather agency and an independent group out of University of California Berkeley also measured 2014 as the hottest on record.

NOAA said 2014 averaged 58.24 degrees Fahrenheit, 1.24 degrees above the 20th-century average.
But NASA, which calculates temperatures slightly differently, put 2014’s average temperature at 58.42 degrees Fahrenheit, which is 1.22 degrees above their average, which they calculate for 1951-1980.

You know what?  In the first place, I don’t really believe it.  In the second, I don’t really care.

First, the “science” of man-made global warming has been so politicized, and has been so shown to be shot through with dubious data and even more dubious method, that I simply don’t attach any credence to it.  You can call me a “denier” if you like, thus trying to put me in the same category as flat-earthers and people who think the moon landings were faked, but I prefer to consider myself a rational skeptic.  Especially since all the proposed “fixes” for the alleged problem seem to involve further erosion of my liberty and wealth.

Second, it strikes me that we’ve got a whole slew of crises here in the West involving our collapsing morality, our unicorn-based economy, and our deepening security breaches that register a whole lot higher on my give-a-damn meter than a 1.24 degree above the 20th-century average temperature.

Link is from Drudge.  Maybe he’s  just click-whoring, but it seems to me he does a disservice by giving top-of-the-page “OMG-We’re BURNING!!” headlines for this sort of thing.
