Greetings, my fellow port swillers!
As I mentioned in teh random post below, last week saw teh Middle Gel’s 15th birthday while this week saw teh Youngest’s 13th.
In each case, the Port Swiller Family went out to dins in celebration.
Middle Gel chose the Cheesecake Factory for her feast. There, we were confronted by a wait-person who could not stop draping his arm around ol’ Robbo and other family members while trying to make a point about some item on the menu or otherwise attempting to engage our enthusiasm. He had a serious sad when we more or less refused to join in his attempt to sing “Happy Birthday” when bringing out the celebratory slice of cheesecake to the Gel.
On the other hand, the staff at Coastal Flats, which was teh Youngest’s choice, were much more subdued. Although they also shoves a celebratory candle into the slice of dessert ordered up by the Youngest Gel and heartily wished her a happy birthday, they did not attempt to engage us in a rousing chorus of “Happy Birthday” or otherwise to draw attention to our table, but instead just left us the hell alone.
I very much preferred the latter treatment to the former. Ol’ Robbo is not fond of PDA in any shape or form, but especially detests the ersatz variety of it.
