Our neighbors up the street have a predeliction for those giant inflatable lawn decorations.  Every year, the things seem to multiply like rabbits.  There must be at least ten out front this season.  Outdoor lights, I can take (although I wouldn’t put them on my own house).  These, however, are an abomination.

I must remember to pull the Old Gentleman’s pellet gun from storage the next time I’m in Maine…..

For Mr. FLG….

What about the average guy in Alexander the Great’s army?  What about his contribution to history?  Yes, it is important that Alexander extended the influence of such legendary Greek philosophers as Aristotle throughout most of the civilized world, thus significantly affecting the development of Western thought and culture to this very day:  but is it not also important that, at the same time, some of his lowly foot soldiers were perfecting the Rubber Spear Trick, or determining that the letters in “Aristotle” can be rearranged to spell “A Tit Loser” (also “Tater Silo”)?

– From Dave Barry’s Complete Guide to Guys.

If this were a serious observation I’d probably be grumbling, since I am not at all fond of the modern fad for “bottom up” historickal analysis.  But since it’s Dave, I just laughed heartily.
