“Bay Horse and White Dog

Lest certain of our readers develop the belief that Yours Truly has no interest in paintings that do not somehow involve scantily or non-clad lovelies, I will just point out that today is the anniversary of the birth of British sport painter George Stubbs in 1724.

I love the body language of the horse in this painting. It says, “Well, yes, I am prepared to make friends with you in principle….but I’m not quite certain yet that you aren’t in cahoots with a lion sneaking up to jump on my back.” All horses think this way.

The dog, meanwhile, is simply thinking, “Me like horsey.”
